Your ears might have been opened to the music of Juana Molina by the epic Reboot mix of ‘Un Dias’, a bonafide Berghain club classic. But if that’s as much as you know of this Argentinean comic actress turned leftfield folker, then we certainly suggest you check her 1998 LP for Domino, an infectious and individual selection of hypnotic and beguiling folktronica that could quite easily reside on a cultish West Cost label like Plug Research. As Domino’s own blurb says “it’s a record informed by an ever shifting and polymorphous sense of groove, rhythms writhing over and inside each other, played out on wood and cymbal and bombo legüero, and woven from electronic glitches.” Indeed.
