Following his abstract jazz outings with the late great Steve Reid, this one felt like a bit of a release for the musical voyager Kieran Hebden. Apparently inspired by his DJ slots at Plastic People, ‘There is Love in You’ slipped out quietly at the start of 2010 but by the end of the year it was quite rightly in many ‘Best Of’ lists. It was the single ‘Love Cry’ that drew most ears to Hebden’s dance LP, and its brilliance has not been diminished by hearing it out all over last year. But there is much more to enjoy here, from the ambient minimalism of ‘Circling’ to the glitchy anthem ‘Sing’.
