Often overlooked, Colourbox brought together many disparate strands of musical influences on this, their only album for 4AD. From doo-wop to dub, with a heavy electronic dance influence they also were among the British pioneers of sampling techniques more often seen on hip hop records. Worth listening to, and not only for a sense of history. They merge blue eyed soul and new wave electronica on 'The Moon Is Blue', chopped up samples and roaring guitars on 'Just Give 'em Whiskey' and then throw in a Michael Nymanesque haunting piano track to kick it all off with.
