Kalabrese May 2013
Kalabrese, aka Sacha Winkler, is the man who can. As the drummer in hip hop collective Sendak, Winkler released two LPs and toured Switzerland before striking out on his own as Kalabrese, releasing a handful of electronic 12-inches with kooky vocals on labels like Stattmusik and Perlon including ‘73 Chicken Fried Rice’. They were quickly followed by imposing remixes for artists like Richard Dorfmeister and Idjut Boys. Over the past seven years, Kalabrese has run the club Zukunft in his home of Zurich, a unique club with an emphasis on the love of music and good people. He’s also a killer DJ as this mix attests. His new, brilliant album Independent Dancer is out NOW.You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Perhaps your browser cannot display it, or maybe it did not initialize correctly.

Krsytal Klear April 2013
Ireland born, but currently resident in Manchester, Dec Lennon (aka Krystal Klear) is a former pupil at the Red Bull Music Academy. In 2010 his first break came providing a mix of Mary Anne Hobbs’ R1 show. He’s had tunes out on All City, Dub Organiser and, lately, Rinse. A resident at Hoya:Hoya for the past three years, he now has a show on Rinse FM and travels regularly and widely, from New York to Singapore. We like him.You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Perhaps your browser cannot display it, or maybe it did not initialize correctly.

Cottam December 2012
Cottam shot to notoriety in 2009 with three limited edition 12-inches that blew up the underground scene with no advertising and no info – combining neo-soul, Afrobeat and hip hop with slo-mo house grooves all three sold out and ended up in many ‘best of 2009’ charts. Since then, Cottam has concentrated on developing his own style of sub-aquatic acid house, as well as building a burgeoning DJ career that spans Balearic disco edits to rough techno slowed down to a sexy shuffling tempo, classic house to euphoric disco all mixed with a skill, grace and swagger, topped off with a trademark cap.You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Aloha Got Soul November 2012
Honolulu-based Roger Bong digs for vinyl records almost too obscure to be true: Hawaiian black music. With Aloha Got Soul, he’s been documenting a lost era of jazz, funk, soul and rare groove in Hawaii. In 2012, Roger released five mixtapes on his blog, including the powerful Pupu Mix. This exclusive contribution to DJ History adds a sixth to his resumé. Hawaii Five-0 Oooh. You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Phenomenal Handclap Band October 2012
PHB first came to our attention with the fabulously lithe and loose 15 to 20 in 2009. Since then, there have been riotous live performances and two albums, the latest of which is Form & Control. The main songwriters are Daniel Collás and Sean Marquand, both DJs, producers and record nerds and, with that in mind, listen to this mix from the chaps. You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Tusk September 2012
Tusk runs Tusk Wax and the related offshoot labels. He wouldn’t give us any biog info but did say this about the mix he’s put together... “I figured this was a good chance to dig a few bits out that I don’t normally get chance to play. I tried to include some less well know tracks from producers and labels that I really like. I hate mixes that feel static so I've tried to play with the tempo and emotion to keep your ears interested. Please excuse the track which collected a bit of dust on it, you’ll know the one when it comes in. Enjoy.”You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! If you don't know Justin Strauss, then you should. He was the resident DJ at one of New York's greatest clubs, Area, and before that at Mudd Club (among many others). As a remixer, he's worked on everyone from Bros to Foster The People, a remix career that's spanned over two decades. These days he's part of the production duo Whatever/Whatever and continues to DJ - over thirty years since he first started. You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Chida July 2012
Widely regarded as one of the most exciting DJs to emerge from Japan recently, Chida’s Dancaholic parties and his extended sets at 11 in Tokyo are the stuff of legend. When he’s not DJing, he runs Ene Records and his debut releases, which came out last year on ESP Institute swiftly became an instant classic among the more discerning ears, eventually ending up on Mr. Weatherall’s recent Masterpiece mix.You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! PBR Streetgang May 2012
PBR Streetgang are the new kids on the block. Or street, as the case may be. The pair – Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe – learnt their craft at Leeds’s long-running Asylum club before dabbling in the studio, firstly with edits and lately with original productions, with their recent release on Hot Creations garnering plenty of attention. We like them and we don’t care who knows it.You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Perhaps your browser cannot display it, or maybe it did not initialize correctly.

Onur Engin April 2012

His vinyl only edit treatments remain faithful to originals yet add just the right amount of percussive deftness to give them some dancefloor feet. Debukas March 2012
Not many people can hold claim to being a teenage pop star, taking the Japanese charts by storm, signing to Grand Royal and hanging with The Beastie Boys, but Debukas is one such chap. More recently, he’s forsaken the love of teen Japanese girls for gritty and well-crafted Chicago and Detroit influenced electronic music (check his recent ace EP on 2020 Vision). We love him.You are missing some Flash content that should appear here! Perhaps your browser cannot display it, or maybe it did not initialize correctly.
