Valentine’s 2008: Gorgeous
Low Life is a registered good time. Bill and Frank started throwing parties together in March 1995 in a big party-shaped Harlem brownstone full of freaks that Frank was living in. The Sound Factory had closed, people were moaning and it was a big success, helped by Jeffrey’s renowned cakes-under-glass, a 50-foot ‘ballroom’ and a sound system that gave the Nation of Islam across the road a run for their money. Several great NY nights followed.
On Valentine’s 1997 we upped sticks to Skelly’s Shoreditch garret. Bizarrely, lots of celebs turned up. Bjork held up the toilet queue, Alexander McQueen kept asking Bill for Brit-funk and our very first love fairy made the papers by hooking up Damon Albarn with Shaznay All Saint. After some of the best parties in our lives we outgrew Skelly's and got organised. Later events have been less star-studded, though Zammo from Grange Hill was spotted recently (Just saying ‘Yes’).
We throw a professional house party. The music is always stellar, the people are always smiling and we try hard not to make a profit. To keep it special we only do Low Life a few times a year: Valentine's, Halloween and sometimes Carnival, and we don’t tell the general public about them, just our mates, and their mates, and you. If you’re nice, email us to get on the Low Life email list. Put Low Life in the subject box.
