Strictly Rhythm

One of the great New York record labels of house music. Mark Finkelstein set up the label in 1991, and it seemed to effortlessly fill the shoes of the recently deceased Nu Groove, aided by a prolific release schedule, that included early classics like Code 718’s ‘Equinox’, ‘Luv Dancin’’ by Underground Solution and Aly-Us’ ‘Follow Me’. They soon established a permanent office in the UK and had a string of chart hits here, including Reel 2 Real’s ‘I Like To Move It’, ‘Free’ by Ultra Naté and Barbara Tucker’s ‘Beautiful People’. Over the years, almost everyone who mattered has released something on Strictly: Lil’ Louis, Masters at Work, Roger Sanchez, Danny Tenaglia and DJ Pierre. After several years of lying low, they relaunched after inking a deal with Defected Records.
