Henry Street US

Set up by noted New York disco collector Johnny De Mairo, Henry Street was largely known for heavily-sampled house, taking glee in plundering the five boroughs club classics for loops and ideas. Predictably, they’ve had most of the great exponents of the art recording on the label at some stage: DJ Sneak, Johnick (Johnny D’s own recording moniker with Nicky Palermo), Kenny Dope, Mateo & Matos, Robbie Rivera, Todd Terry and, of course, Armand Van Helden. In 1994, they released ‘The Bomb’ by the Bucketheads, which was a huge hit all over the world and established the label’s reputation in the field. Many of the releases still stand up well today.
