The hipster’s hipster label for most of the noughties though, in this instance, the hype is backed up by a release schedule that has seen some classic tunes pass through. Set up by Tim Goldsworthy and James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and Jonathan Galkin. They started with The Raptures’ ‘House Of Jealous Lovers’, swiftly followed by ‘Losing My Edge’ by LCD Soundsystem and have carried on in pretty much the same vein, right up to now. They have also released material by The Juan MacLean, Holy Ghost! and Shit Robot, as well as reissuing underrated Akron punk-funkers Pylon ’80s material. They’ve somehow managed to walk the tricky line between staying cool, while still releasing meaningful music.
