Although Black Cock has now reached a slightly preposterous level of interest, its singles were largely ignored upon first release in the early 1990s. Set up by DJ Harvey and mate Gerry Rooney to release old-fashioned reel-to-reel edits (often recreating classic old edits they’d heard on mixtapes, such as the Ron Hardy/Dells homage ‘No Way Back’), they frequently sold very badly – mainly because most of the customers in record stores back then were still house-fixated. Now sought after and commanding high prices on eBay, they are available for download here.
