Gil Goldberg set up the label in 2002 after he initially made his name as a promotor (he put on the first London shows of now established bands such as Muse and Stereophonics). Slowly it evolved into a record label and in 2006 after a number of minor chart hits, Back Yard released 'Standing In The Way Of Control' in the UK, Europe and Japan, the third album by American disco-punks The Gossip. The album spawned the Top 10 single of the same name and went on to sell 300,000 copies across Europe. The following year the label released Fancy Footwork by faves of ours, Chromeo.
