Set up by Larry Heard (aka Mr Fingers) in 1986 primarily as an outlet for his productions. Its lifespan was short but the quality was very high (he has relaunched the label in the past ten years). Although the back catalogue has thinned a little over the years, there are still some Mr Fingers gems in there, including ‘Slam Dance’ and ‘What About This Love?’. The label reflects its owner Heard who has retired more times than George Foreman, but has also made some consistently beautiful music. His productions, alongside those of Marshall Jefferson and Jamie Principle, have remained Chicago’s most timeless from the golden era of house music.
