We may be rubbish at football but at least we're good at cricket these days...

... currently crushing the Aussies in the ODI series, even without KP
It's good to see Ian Bell come good as an opener in this format. Eoin Morgan appears to have stopped doing his ducking thing too, which pleases me.
Prior to this we crushed the Windies in all formats- this was not entirely unexpected, but after their stars' showing in the IPL, I expected a tougher T20 game at Trent Bridge last week- I was actually hoping to catch a Chris Gayle six as I'd got seats in the upper tier straight down the ground from the wicket, but he fell early. Hats off to Alex Hales, surely a future England opener in all formats soon (i.e. when Strauss retires), though I hope for Notts' sake it isn't for a while.
Although football and cricket are hardly comparable (with only 8 other countries playing cricket at the highest level, and a few minnows to make up the numbers in tournaments), it's worth remembering that not so long ago England were rubbish and the Aussies were like Olympian gods. However, we worked out what we needed to do to sort that out and we're now finally reaping the rewards. The FA just needs to do the same with football, though I concede it's a tougher challenge.
