Default So u call yourself a DJH fan?

...what electronic brands/models do you use to listen to music in comfort of your home?

I've been through some great gadgetry in past, from a massive PYE stereogram in 1979 to a tiny tiny portable radio in the early 80s, to a Sony walkman/radio, to a Sanyo twin cassette radio, to a very very expensive Nakamichi cassette deck, Rotel amp and B&W speakers, to a full on home recording studio with mega expensive Alesis monitors.

To present day minimalism:

a pair of £30 Mission speakers I bought 2001 (amazing audio quality and never failed no matter how high you crank em), a Pioneer CD/RW, A Behringer desk, a Del p.c. with standard p.c. card and best of all... a JVC amp bought from a charity shop which I have to turn up full volume on the left channel and press some knobs to get it to work in stereo - bitch of a thing, but too sentimental to ditch it. I've spilled so much beer, tea, coffee and hot chocolate in it I'm astounded it still lights up.

MacBook
160g iPod
and
20 year old hand me downs from my dad:
Sherwood Amp/Receiver (though i've only just noticed it's a receiver)
Eclipse CD player (hardly play it anymore)
Sherwood casetter player (never play)
shitty JVC speakers that an ex left
i also have some over 30 year old Goodmans wooden cabinet speakers that might be good, but the wiring at the back of one of them is bust. i'm just too lazy to fix it.

I think I remember those eclipse CD players... I've got a Sony one spare if you need it, you'll have to pay the postage though.

Early onset of a mid-life crisis caused me to splurge on the following over the past few years:

B&W 805s speakers
Primare I30 amplifier
Linn Sondek LP12 turntable with Adikt cartridge

CD player is a relatively cheap NAD 521BEE because I find it hard to believe that high end CD players sound radically different.

Also have a mini system consisting of a Sonic Impact T-Amp, Quad L-ite speakers and a Logitech Squeezebox 3 (amazing gizmo). Mini system is used exclusively with Spotify.

Most recent purchase is a Musical Fidelity V-DAC to hook up my PC to my main system. £150 quid and supposed to sound fantastic.

If I'm using the room with the best set up, then it's...

Technics 1200s or Computer CD player
Quad amp
Very thick speaker cable
PMC TB1 monitors

= very good sound

The speakers are almost certainly the strongest link in this chain, and the crappy old carts I've got on the Technics the weakest.

3 years ago i woke up one morning with a thundering sudden flash in mind: got to get me some serious hi-fi stuff (it' was the time when i was reading tim lawrence's love saves the day and all that watering words on mancuso's set up). so i went to the shop and bought a marantz amp + a cd player, a pair of akg 240 headphones and a pair of b&w speakers. 2 months after a couple of sl 1200's and a urei mixer came to sonically chat with the rest of the components... the rest is history

Now we're talking! We should turn this into a picture thread

Main system:

Quad amp and pre-amp
Technics TT
Meridian 203 DAC
Gale 401/B&W 603 speakers
Squeezebox (amazing thing)

2nd system:

Dynaudio Audience 52s
Linn Classik

Then a load of stuff on rotation/tryouts - Sansui, Pioneer, Yamaha. I can't stop buying 1970s monster Solid State amps at the moment
