Is it a bootleg or an official repress?

Last September it was in all the record stores in NYC, I picked it up in Dope Jams. Weird how it's such a rarity in stores in the UK.

....a can of worms but Larry never remixed Stand On The Word (just played it a lot, I think). If Francois K checks in then he’ll be able to set the record straight. Regardless, great track.

FKs comments:

Yvonne Turner is the one who discovered the song while she was working at Downstairs Records, from what I gather.
She managed to get a couple of boxes of the record to sell at the store, sold out immediately and that was it.

The church was kind of unprepared to deal with this 'secular' attention, and adamantly refused any further commercial
exploitation of this recording, for purposes unrelated to its original intent.

The Joubert Singers version is a re-recording done for Profile, featuring the same singers (I think) but done outside of
the church choir. From hearsay, there seems to have been some ill feelings about the song even being re-recorded between
the group responsible for it and the congregation heads, this could all be a rumor and nothing more.

In the meantime, Larry Levan was far too busy inventorying his large collection of flashlight and torches, and
would not have had time to spare to do a remix.

The only reason this was written on the bootleg is to try and drum up some more sales. Same person desperate for
any attention who recently bootlegged my X-Medley and said that it was a present I gave to Larry for his birthday,
(false as well) hoping he could make a few more dollars that way, as it is well-known that birthday bootlegs are
far more valuable than regular ones.

How low can you go? Pretty low I guess.... Let's call it a great example of 'enlightened spirituality for the new millenium'.

To be fair, I don’t think the "Larry" label bootlegs state it’s a Larry Levan remix. Think it just says unreleased mix?

Although other releases have wrongly listed it as Larrys remix

Haha - to compound the confusion in this month's wire magazine Tim Lawrence attributes the recording of the celestial choir version to Walter Gibbons

This new jack says thanks for the tip.
A track that I'll admit to having not heard of even though it seems to be a big/well known track.
I've only heard the Juno soundclips, so cant wait for the 12" to arrive (tomorrow hopefully).

Lauren Lavern just played the Larry Levan remix on 6 Music. So it must be true. Oh and he remixed in in 2002 which is very clever of him what with being dead and everything.
