The other night Prins Thomas opened with this funky lush track that starts of with Sax, then goes into a funky moog sounding synth, then a violin very much like Jean-Luc Ponty, and then female backing vocals (doo doo doo da doo doo), then back into funky moog etc

I don't think its off a Ponty album as I have most of them. So maybe he is playing on another artists record?

Any ideas? Sorry that's all I have to go on right now

hi, new to the site but very experienced / knowledgeable collector, with massive collection. its an absolute killer track and i almost certainly own it but will need to have a good think. wouldnt get too carried away thinking it was definately a violinist though.

i just checked out some michael urbaniaks LP's, its not on his 76 body english, 77 urbaniak (inner city), 80 serenade, 81 daybreak LP's, i no longer have a couple by him from the late 70's as they were rather disappointing so i can't imagine that track is on them.

it sounds like it could be him as its exactly in the style of his 77 / 80 / 81 LP's. its a major label production for sure given the number of different musicians in there, probably the usual household session names. other names that spring to mind but i don't have all their LP's, noel pointer (can someone check his out, might be missing one from that period) jon faddis, michael white, i don't think its ponty as tbh he rarely sounds that exciting, can not imagine its creach. think i'll come up with the answer but may take a while !
