I've been enjoying listening back to the DID archive...at times with tears in my eyes from laughter and sadness (the late John Peel's discs).
However, this one in particular made me feel rather queasy:

Imagine being on an Island with those records?

Hope his food taste better than his music!

the John Peel show sounded great just now! Wonderful to hear his voice again and I loved how evocative his contexts were for each song - the description about him hearing that roy orbison song was brilliant : )

do you have a set of desert island discs? I'm so used to being around a whole bundle of music it's tough to think about only having a few songs. i think i could manage a few albums for now:

steve hillage & evan marc - dreamtime submersible
cosmoafrique / FFWD
troubleman - time out of mind
gil scott heron & brian jackson - winter in america
irresistable force - global chillage
nsm - download this / ishq
global communication - pentamorous metamorphosis
hariprasad chaurasia - rag bhimpalsi
ozric tentacles - erpland
twisted recs / system 7 / cosmosis / oood / 4hero

Nigella Lawson choosing Yeke Yeke / Mory Kante has surprised my a bit, she also choose Blue Monday.

Never recovered from Norman Wisdom choosing 5 of his own records.

Private Passions on Radio 3 is a better listen.

Lawrence Dallaglio is a really good one, some tragic things have happened in his life and his rugby career. He chose some great records which matched some cool stories.

I think he came out of it very well. A very honest and candid interview. I like him a bit more now. Though not too much.

Maybe I should have listened beyond the first five minutes but regardless of what I may think of the prick, I thought the idea was to have people with a measure of life experience already behind them

I have become addicted to this now... Peel etc are great but the wierd pop culture guilty pleasure part of me is now listening to Nigella Lawson... no idea why but I have a real interest as to what these peopel that are not supposed to know anything about music will pick.

I listened to the Nigella one - a bit of a cringe out when she explains to Lawley that 'Hardfloor remix' means it's 'only for hardcore clubbers' - righto, Nige
