"The amazon basin has become a production centre for the country's biggest illegal export......COCAINE" that was a nice intro...
Does LUPO count ? Keep it up was nice.
one I still like is Mister B. lets get horny. Anyone know where that bongo bit is stolen from?
Gino Latino - welcome...bassline!
I saw DJH & Stefy got a lowlife airing.
My favourite at the time was Numero Uno - sounds shocking now I'd bet. I can't see a revival for a few years yet....it's like all those records sampled the same stuff, and then sampled each other. It's a wonder it lasted as long as it did.
I still have a few knocking about, but the one sticks in my mind most, mainly because it is so unremittingly bad, is DJ Professor and Francesco Zappala's We Gotta Do It.

It reminds me of a great warehouse party (Bob's Full House) in Kings Cross about 91/92. Weatherall played it when he was going through his big scream-up period. I can't see what he or I found good about it, but I'd never get rid of it because of that.

What about good Italian house records from the same period?

What about good Italian house records from the same period?

???

Aurral - Desire (the B-side mix that samples Loose Joints: incredible record that sounds like the Idjut Boys)
DJ Ivan - I'm Happy (Tribu Mix: deep and brilliant)
Visions - Is This Real? (DJ Ivan Mix: brilliant deep vocal record, early 90s Tenaglia fave)
DJ Leroy - Bocachica (groovy Latin-esque percussion track that works particularly well when you're mixing styles)

All from pre-92. Want more? There's plenty.

since rob & co pointed me in the direction of soulseek and the plethora of dodgy dodgy Sasha 89-92 mixes out there i've been getting mental for this sound again... finally tracked down the Kaos NYE91/92 set the other night, utter madness. Robert Owens mashed with FSOL and E-Lustrious with C&C Music... ;D i slung them onto tapes, made some comps of what i have left of this dubious 'genre' and keep the pianos battering out of the car whenever possible... makes traffic jams ever so slightly surreal.
no mention yet of:
Indie - 'Appollonia'
The End – ‘You Drive Me Wild’
Chicco Secchi Project - 'Whip of the Rhythm'
BDJ & The Warriors - 'Flute On'
... and on and on and on... 'JJ Tribute' though... sweet jesus!
started finishing the Friday night crap-bar residency with a solid drunken two hours of anthems along this tip and to my surprise people don't sprint for the exit. the accountant even brought me several shots when i played The 48ers in fact... :o
i still rock Fabrice Lig and The DFA whenever possible, but the energy! the energy! haha! aaah me gusta!

i think this sort of music is like comfort food.
no surprises, but it still raises a smile :)
fabio, was any much of that early 90s sound actually that popular in Italy itself at the time? and are any of them still up to much? i saw a track by Pratty (the P in FPI Project) listed on juno the other day... i think.
love that Jestofunk... listening to the intro to 'i'm gonna love you' at full volume in a club was like a full body massage from god's own masseuse... mmm mmm mmm.

This thread got me thinking. This was probably the last time 89/90 that you could get away with playing a mixture (dare i say Balaric) of different tunes.
Great to see now it looks as though people are getting back to playing what they want in clubs.

I went to one of those KAOS raves at Leed's Poly - 91 or 92. All I can recall is

1) Rozalla was v. popular (must have been in the middle of her 15 mins of fame)

2) The sound was TERRIBLE.
