Out of interest, what is Trouble doing these days? I remember him playing more disco & boogie oriented stuff in the rare groove days, before house really caught on in London. Could he ever be London's answer to Rahaan or Maurice Fulton or is he slightly lost in a early '90s Camden zone?

The last thing I heard about him was that he had a night @ the Salmon and Compass in Islington, sporting a belt with the word Trouble on the buckle.

hah-hah.........that's no cover - it's the original!

:-D

Phreek - "Weekend". 1978. Same vocalist though - Christine Wiltshire.

Phreek was a Patrick Adams thing.

Class Action was a Larry Levan thing.

BTW - Tim, that Musique track is available on "Musique II" on a double 12" LP pack. Worth seeking out as the pressing is lovely!

cheers for the tip. And thanks for posting the tape - listened to it on the way home and it really reminded me how good a DJ Trouble was: for me, no-oe came close in the early 90s.

oh the humiliation! :) I'd heard the Levan mix wasn't particularly different to the original, obviously i heard wrong

Any takers for the track before Air Power?

Trouble was trouble lonnggg before Dave was dangerous. :)
I think Dave only got the dangerous tag in the early legal days of Kiss FM. I don't remember him known as that when he was on BBC Radio London. I'm pretty sure Paul took the trouble from Trouble Funk, & possibly even had a soundsystem with that name, in the early '80s.

The tracklisting for the disco tuneage..........from the beginning:

1) Musique - Glide
2) Dazzle - All
3) Phreek - Weekend
4) Nature's Divine - I Never Felt This Way Before
5) Air Power - Welcome To The Disco

I've obviously highlighted the one you want. Never came out on a 12" - LP only.

Yes - absolutely. Loads of great disco, great house, a good sprinkling of cuts from those "Disco Elements" EPs (which were obviously new at the time, and sounding incredibly fresh!!).

Just a fucking great show, great tunes, great mixes - he truly was a don.

Andrew,

Many, many thanks for these mixes. I loved The Advanced Dance Mix Shows when I lived in London. Saw me through some tough times did Trouble. Perhaps I can track down the recordings I made.

Gonna really enjoy these

Wonder what happened to Mini Moo !?

I need to get a copy of that Dazzle. Great track. I never really liked 'You Dazzle me' so have never investigated the LP. Clearly a mistake!

he's back behind the decks at a Roller Disco night in Barnet, three times a week.
