I was totally hooked on GTA 3 when I had my girlfriend's brother staying with us - we used to waste entire days playing it until girlfriend went mental and brother moved out. Sadly, it was his PS3 we were playing it on so that moved out too! Now I'm seriously considering buying a PS3 myself so that I can get the new GTA.
How sad is that?

I bought a PS3 with my new HD telly for the bluray as well as the games. The picture quality is immense and the games are superb. COD4 is sooo addictive especially the online game play feature. GT5 i' m just getting used to but the graphics are amazing and the game itself is only a teaser of whats to come. The only downside of GT5 is when you crash your car is still in one piece, no damage etc as apposed to Burnout Paradise where the crashes are so realistic.

Me too, GTA 4 will still be amazing though.........although if I'm perfectly honest I'm more excited about Metal Gear Solid 4 and Little Big Planet.

So if I do buy a console purely for GTA, should I go for a PS3?
Someone told me last night I should get an X Box.

Maybe if I go for a big fuck-off HD telly too, that'll sweeten up the missus!

No holidays this year though.

There will be exclusive downloadable content on the 360, although rumours abound of something similar for the pS3 at a later date. depends how important multiplayer is to you I guess, obviously Xbox has the bigger community at the moment.

get the PS3 as a standalone Sony bluray player will set you back over £500 where-as the PS3 has the same Sony blu-ray technology in its lil black box. Seriously, a mate of mine has an X-box and is selling that to get his hands on a PS3.

I would personally go for the PS3. I have one, and a 360, and I'd love to be getting GTA4 for the PS3, however because all my mates are using 360s, I have to get it on that in order to play online with them.

PS3 works out at better value for money imo, its an absolutely excellent machine, Bluray, Media Streaming, fully integrated wireless, you can install Linux onto it etc.

Glad I'm not the only nerd here. Looking forward to GTA4, but GT5P is taking up my gaming time at the moment.

I've put off buying a current-gen console because of the time-stealing capabilitites, but I'm going to bite the bullet now. I'm going for a 360 first I reckon (sorry Ben) - purely for the range of games. GTA 4, Halo 3 and COD4 will see me through most of the year I reckon. Blu-ray players will plummet in price over the next few years, just like DVD players did when they came out.

Although I've got an Xbox and a PS3, I think it's going to be a massive year for the PS3 in terms of games. Also with the millions of PS2 owners who've yet to buy a next gen machine, but trust the Sony brand, it has potentially the biggest user base of all the consoles. Also due to the regular firmware updates for PS3,Sony are looking at it having a life span of at least ten years. Whereas Microsoft are fairly likely to supercede the 360 by releasing an Xbox 720 ( or whatever they call it) in around 2010.

PS3 all the way, the CD/DVD/Blueray capabilities for the price is great value for money.
Also still hooked on COD4 online and very much looking forward for GTAIV.
Anyone here got RSV2? I've yet to finish the 1 player stpryline so not bought it yet as COD4 online has pretty much took over.

Here, if anyone who has a PS3 hasn't already done this, check out these three games on the Playstation Store:

flOw
Everyday Shooter
Locoroco Correcho

absolutely amazing "mini"games with very very creative art styles and music. Locoroco might be my favourite, love the little tune that the Locorocos sing and the way that it changes depending on the types that you save. Its an incredibly simple game, but fantastically addictive.

Yeah, not as enjoyable as the first in my opinion, some very drab environments although I've only really played the single player and not given online much of a chance to be honest.

All brilliant games and makes a change to see original creative programmers given a chance, compared to the endless retro ports available on Live (although to be fair Rez HD is a masterpiece).

I think what MachineSoul says above is quite correct. This year is going to be a big for year for Sony and the PS3 with many more new games to come on a par with the releases like that of the xbox 360 of which even though Microsoft lowered the price to afaik £159 for a console which is a great price for a next gen console but it just doesn' t compare with the PS3 and its capabilities. I' m biased as I' ve had a PS1, PS2 and now the PS3.

Lemme know when you' ve done the deed eddie :)
