Thirty minutes worth of some highlights from Froggy's mid-80s Capital Radio Mix Show... he's messing here with mostly 70's disco stuff, including great bits by the likes of Wilbur Bascomb, Alan Hawkshaw, and half a dozen Randy Muller classics.

I think he used to prepare a lot of it beforehand on tape.

I think it must have been - its too fast, too much, for the time it was done anyway. Its fucking brilliant though - however it was made. Hugely impressive. Going to find out as much as I can about this man...I didnt even know the name till the very sad thread about his passing.

Nice one JJ. Really enjoyed listening.
Froggy sounds like he's having a barrel of fun! A lot of energy went into that.

I hope some more of these get dug up & digitized. I think a lot of people missed out on these at the time because it was on Capital at what was probably the golden age of pirate stations.

Many thanks, very similar to Jeff Mills in his Detroit radio days

What a refreshing and uplifting 30 minutes of radio.
Also great to remember the days when you could have just one "chart" covering the whole of dance music - with the likes of Marshall Jefferson, Willie Colon, Run DMC and Gwen Guthrie battling it out for top spot...

Things changed around 88/89, when the dance genres divided and then sub-divided. Prior to that, as was the norm on the black scene, dance music covered a spectrum of styles and tempo, all played within the same night - the idea of playing a whole night with just one groove / tempo would have been unthinkable (until ecstasy arrived on the scene and 4/4 began to dominate). Thankfully people seem to be appreciative of a wider variety of dance music again nowadays, which, to my mind, has got to be a positive step.
In line with the time it was made, the great thing about this mix is that you never know what's going to happen next.
This is great!
Wonder if this is where Mark Moore got his idea for Theme from S-Express?
