i used to love this game

i had about 50 teams, the stadiums, an astro turf pitch AND a normal one (both pinned to a board)

used to be in a league and entered tournaments, even used to put furniture polish on the base of my players so they would slide for miles (sad i know but i was 12)

so imagine my dismay when i saw a new subbuteo set in argos with CARDBOARD PLAYERS and a crap new logo

NOOOOOOOO!

(i always imagine what it would be like to have a giant ball in a football match, like in subbuteo. i suppose to peter crouch it would look normal size)

That sounds rubbish. No wonder kids are killing each other all over the bloody place. Now do they have a Subbuteo equivalent in Barcelona?!

All I remember about subbueto was discovering the calves-up remains of my Dynamic Number 10 Shirt™ ("he covered every blade of grass on the pitch") embedded in my left knee, usually two fours after I'd finished playing.

Here's a fact that I know you will love Tezza. Its got puns and a bird of prey in it.

Subbuteo is in fact named after the latin name for the bird of prey the Hobby. The latin for a Hobby is Falco Subbuteo. Subbuteo is a Hobby. Get it?

My table then I graduate to studio one" :-D

i still have about 8 teams, most of which i found 2nd hand about 20 years ago.

apart from the handpainted & numbered 70's villa team i have a nice liverpool away (white shirts red shorts) & celtic. ohh & i have a set of goals & the pitch!

anyone remember subbuteo rugby? i had that too....totaly stupid but i loved the kicker who was 4 times the size of the rest. you pushed his head down & the right leg lifted. also the scrum was weird a kind of flattened plastic rugby ball with a hole in the top. you put the ball in the hole & it would randomly come out on one side. can't remeber how the line out worked...mental
