I've slowly been chipping away at various techniques and have come up with probably my best effort yet. It's hard to describe as it's transgressed about 5 genres in the last few days but, the thing is, I'm kind of stuck with ideas as where to go or what to use for a lead.

Would anyone be up for having a listen and giving some pointers?

Change the bass sound to something with a lot more body. Even transposing the sound you've got up one octave might give it a bit more presence. It is too low, both tonally & in the mix.
Cut out the bass note/s around the 4th beat in every second bar so it becomes a two bar pattern.
