I'm on the hunt for a good one (that's also not too expensive). Anyone use one and care to recommend?
I've been looking at these :

I lean towards the versions with a harddrive but my wallet leans towards the flash cards. Thoughts?

I was really impressed by the sound quality of the Fostex I tried a few years ago but trying to edit anything on there was nearly impossible.
What are you wanting it for? Just live recording which will then be mixed down on a computer, or will you be mixing on the unit itself?

The former. Basically for remote recording when you don't want to have your computer around or can't be bothered to set it up. (we have a good mic already.) You don't even need a power source for the fostex one--it runs on double a batteries.
