Hi all,

I am about to convert a number of my albums in itunes (currently showing as AAC files at 128kbp) to MP3. I'm doing this so that I can play them using Serato Scratch Live. I need to convert these to the best possible quality MP3's and was going to convert to 320kbp MP3 files.....one thing that I'm confused by is the fact that I will be increasing the kbp by doing this. Is this normal due to the fact that I am converting from AAC to MP3 ? Or am I going to reduce the sound quality drastically b doing this ?

help a confused technophobe !!

Cheers,
Timmy

Basically you don't want to be compressing the sound files any more than they have been already.

A 320 kbps mp3 of a 128 kbps AAC should sound pretty much the same.
A 128 kbps mp3 of a 128 kbps AAC will sound very thin, possibly as weak as a 60 kbps file.

If you still have original wav or aif files of any of the tracks it would be much better to do your conversion from those.

Thanks Justin - so what I'm doing is basically ok then as I am converting a 128 kbps AAC into a 320 kbps mp3 which should sound pretty much the same in your view ?
