The DownTownSounds Christmas Weekender
16th & 17th December
DownTownSounds will cap off a fine year with a Christmas bender of a weekender featuring two of the world’s very finest DJ’s.

They will mark a year of monthly parties in Ri-Ra on Friday December 16th with the return of Nicky Siano, who laid waste to the very same venue this time last year with a set of classic soul, funk, disco and house. Siano pioneered the art of mixing at his legendary ‘Gallery’ nightspot, going on to become a resident at the world famous Studio 54 club. A compilation of ‘Gallery’ favourites was released on London’s Soul Jazz Records last year - with volume 2 to follow in March - and his fiercely energetic sets would put many DJ’s half his age to shame.
At their 52FUNK Christmas party the following evening, they will welcome Detroit legend Theo Parrish to the intimate confines of The Underground in Kennedy’s for a rare 5 hour set. Parrish is best known as owner of ‘Sound Signature’, a label whose output – much of it produced by the man himself - blurs the boundaries between house, techno, jazz, ambient and soul. He also gained notoriety with his ‘Ugly Edits’, a series of hypnotic reworks of rare soul, disco and boogie gems. His DJ sets are guaranteed to bring you on a unique musical journey that you won’t forget in a hurry. Not a frequent traveller across The Atlantic, any chance to see this man mix records is not to be missed, especially in a venue with little over 200 capacity……
