Rhythm Doctor - Tulgu Malakas! (Umblu)

If ever there was an album that wore its influences on its sleeve it is this. They are all here: the 2-Tone atmosphere of Sta-Prest And Crombie (the title gives it away!), the dense percussive workouts reminiscent of those jazz sets in Birmingham during the ’80s, the house excursion (aided and abetted by Cassio) that are pure Feel Real blowouts. The Rhythm Dr. has been around the block, taking in punk rock, post-punk, jazz-funk, go-go, Chicago house and all points in between. And you can hear all of those things here, all mixed up in a way that would do the Doctor's buddies, the Idjut Boys, proud.

thanks for writing such kind words about the album & me - djh!

a little bit about the album.....
most of the tracks were recorded for discfunction in 2001-2 but due to defunct glasgow underground they sat around until 2006(?) when they were released (cd) on my mate rauls 'umblu' label in estonia.

subsequently he sold them digitally around the world & now djh has the album.

7 of the tracks are interludes, 3 are re-edits, 1 a remix i did in 1997 (track 15 ...treee) & 1 a remix raul did of 'she funk' (last track)

'she funk' was released by idjuts on discfunction in 02

the album was a 'concept' on which i wanted to include all (or as many) of my influences from my first love of reggae in 69, through jazz funk electro afro & house.
the result i'm happy with - tho in the 8 years since i recorded the project i have learnt a lot more & as allways would like to improve many of the tracks.

the title is in estonian & it means literally -'bring the stick!' in english...sought of 'come & have a go if you think you're hard enough!' :-)

cheers,
rd.

oh & i did the sleeve
