The Rhythm Doctor has definitely been around the block, firstly as a member of Two-Tone recording act The Swinging Cats, then as a DJ of over 30 years’ service, making his name as dancefloor king of Coventry, and with his Feel Real nights, a keystone in London’s house history. His trio of delights starts with jazz-funk collectible Eastern Palace by Risan, a wonky disco track with Asian undertones (exclusive Rhythm Doctor edit); Brenda & The Beachballs’ Wait originally came out on quirky Liverpool label Probe Plus (also responsible for Half Man Half Biscuit) and is a bostin’ slice of post-punk electro; The Diagram Brothers’ We Are All Animals is from the funky end of punk by a gang of artful Mancunians whose music defies categorisation.
